My vision for using the iPad and Digital camera is multi-dimensional. I feel that these technological visual devices will help improve the communication and social skills of my students. The use of the iPad will help my students with autism participate during class lessons and most of all they will be able to express their wants, needs, and feelings. The Digital Camera will be great for taking Photographs of the children in their surroundings during the school day and even on class trips. I will load the Photographs on the iPad and incorporate them into my daily lessons, which I am confident will keep my children more engaged in learning. To improve socially acceptable cues and behaviors I will include my students’ photographs to work on Social Stories that are geared to appropriate individual situations. With the use of a digital camera, I will have the ability to create personalized social stories using photos, text, and audio messages. These stories can be used to promote and individualized social skills relevant to each child’s behaviors. Having an iPad and Digital Camera in the classroom will not only be totally amazing, but it will also greatly improve the communication skills of my students. Thank you for considering our project.
