We are requesting Magna-tiles, Design Blocks, a blocks learning center and I Can Build It! Architecture set. This project will allow my Second graders to have hands on fun while learning at the same time! It will give them experiences that they can't get from a text book or electronics. For example, these manipulatives will allow them to explore areas like design and construction.
The items I have chosen include small pieces for building things, but not regular blocks like most students have played with. One item even gives students a chance to build a house! I want to turn these items into STEM bins that they can grab when they are finished with their work or have down time like in the morning before school begins. It will allow them to be creative and learn to think outside the box. I hope these items will encourage them to seek out new ways to be creative while learning. It might even spark something in them that will lead them to a future career! With your help, I will be able to open a new door for my students!
