Flexible seating allows my students to feel empowered by having a choice in what makes them comfortable and how they can learn to the best of their ability. First graders have a hard time staying still all day. They love to move and fidget when they are learning. This movement increases their blood flow and oxygen to their brain. Wobble chairs, wobble cushions and yoga balls allow students to increase their stimulation which in return will increase their ability to focus and process information. This will also help improve their physical health by building their core strength. Some children prefer to work on the floor. The lap desks will provide a hard surface for them to complete their work with comfort. Flexible seating will also encourage collaboration with sharing supplies and space within the classroom.
