Students learn best with an instrument in hand. With the instruments and materials I am requesting, I can follow the Carl Orff methodology and curriculum of teaching music. Carl Orff believed that students learn best with an instrument in hand. Instruments can assist the students' ability to learn about loud/soft, high/low, and even about sound waves and how they travel. I hope to bring this learning to my students through the materials I have requested. With the rhythm flashcards, I can teach my students to interpret and simulate rhythms. I requested a soprano xylophone, which plays a major part in the Orff methodology. Students will be able to take turns playing on the xylophone and perform what they are learning. These instruments will also be used in parent/public performances.
