I work in a public intermediate school on Staten Island where I currently teach 7th grade. Flexible learning opportunities allow students to take charge of their learning experiences and make the choices that work best for them. My goal is for my students to engage in more successful independent work time where they choose a location in the classroom that works best for them and collaborate with peers on Google Classroom. Currently my students are much more comfortable working with technology rather than the traditional pen and paper. Having tablets and chromebooks will allow them to learn in a way which is familiar to them, while also giving them the choice in how they would like to learn. I Know that making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them because I have been able to witness this amazing difference personally when it comes to work ethic !
