These materials will offer endless opportunities to incorporate an "lockbox" challenge into everyday learning and make reading and social studies more engaging and relevant. I plan on reusing the materials and just changing out the content periodically. Imagine arriving in a room with only a puzzle and a locked box on your desk! How exciting is that!? Students love a challenge!! Some examples of lesson integration are: "A Whole New World: Discovering America" - A challenge outlining American Exploration and its effects on Natives. "Who dunnit? A Declaration of Independence Mystery" - A discovery challenge about Thomas Jefferson and the road to America's freedom "Follow the Journey of a Runaway Slave" - A challenge highlighting difficulties of escaping slavery and finding freedom. These lessons would include QR codes, task cards, mathematical puzzles, riddles, informational articles and photographs, primary and secondary sources (Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, journal entries, etc.).
