In the past, I've always had some sort of bell work ready for my students when they arrived at school. This last week, I really started to think about what I wanted to accomplish with bell work. I've tried all sorts of things, but the one thing I feel has been missing is choice. I decided to do some research, and that is when I found what I believe is the missing piece to my mornings! Morning choice is about offering choices to students to increase engagement and motivation. Think about it...you get to come in to school and CHOOSE what you work on in the morning! Some of the choices that will be available with the funding of this project are art creation, journaling, word and strategy games, and building opportunities. I would like some colored pencils, oil pastels, and drawing paper for students interested in creating art. I am also asking for some building games and materials such as LEGOs and Q-BA-MAZE. Before starting this journey, I created a Google Form where my students took a survey on what kind of choices they would like in the morning. I picked the supplies based on their responses. I can't WAIT to give my students the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild!
