The students that sit in front of me daily are some of the most remarkable young people you will find. There are approximately 120 seventh graders that I have on a daily basis and getting them to decide to read a book is challenging at best! Since they all love their video games, I would like to play into that and have them video trailers that go along with the book they are currently reading. I got this idea from a workshop and think that it is great. In education in Arkansas, we have heard nothing but "Common Core" lately. One of the Student Learning Expectations required of them is public presentation and public speaking. What better way to introduce them to the wonderful world of public speaking than allowing them to first video their trailers and presentations? That way, maybe they will overcome the fear of "performing" in front of peers more quickly and smoothly!
