I teach at a rural, Title 1 school, which means that a majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch. I teach 47 4th graders (ages 9-11) during two sections of math and science. 5 of my students are resources students and I also have a student who is mainstreamed from special education (for science only). They come every day ready to learn, investigate, and explore. The students enjoy hands-on experiments, collaboration, and discussion. I have recently moved to this school and would like to begin updating the science materials I use with my class.
