The book that I am hoping to get a class set of is the American Revolution as told through the eyes of an 11 year old girl. I think that providing students with a first hand account of what the war was like for kids their age will help engage them in the content while giving them an opportunity to expand their worldview and practice their reading skills. Students often have a hard time connecting with history that happened a long time ago, and providing them with a person who they can empathize with will help them to relate and connect to the historical event and the people involved.
