My students have the biggest hearts and no matter the circumstance, they still have smiles across their faces. Many come from low income families and therefore, our school does not receive a large amount of funding and is frequently overlooked. The kids still try to stay encouraged and successful, but they could use a little support from the community to help them feel like they really do mean something. Many of them have the conception that adults do not find them as valuable. I know that is not true, but it has to be prove to them. They need to feel loved and cherished as individuals. They all have their own stories and challenges that they've met and overcome. Some are still going through the challenges and some have yet to face them. My goal as a music teacher is to provide them a key with which they can unlock their own true identities and learn to believe in themselves as I and many others believe in them.
