Our students travel from around the city to attend our program. Our school has won numerous awards. You might think we are well-funded; unfortunately, this is not the case. We are a Title I school with a diverse mix of underrepresented minority kids. The kids--grades six through twelve--often travel an hour or more by bus; they have jobs, they work to help the community. My science room has no built-in lab benches; we are resource poor. I have only one sink, and classes run to 40 students, and yet, virtually every student will attend college. Our achievements come through dedication; yet, no matter how dedicated, our students will be at a disadvantage if they aren't exposed to technology that other students sometimes take for granted. My physics program has expanded over the years to the point where we now have five classes, 35-40 students per class. These are mostly 11th and 12th graders. They are eager to work and learn.
