As a dedicated teaching professional, I am always looking for new and innovative teaching strategies to help my students be more successful in the classroom. After noticing students rocking in and falling out of their chairs, walking around the classroom, and having increased difficulty focusing, I recognized that many of my students needed a way to get their excess energy out. Research from Edutopia.com shows that some benefits of flexible seating may include "burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture.” (Edutopia.com, 2016) My students' educational success is my first priority. The Hokki Stools purchased from this project will be utilized by all students in my classroom on a rotating basis, as well as hundreds of students in the years to come! I am very excited about providing my students with the opportunity to channel their energy in a positive way and enable them to remain more engaged and focused during lessons.
