Sensory input is a very important part of our students' day. Fulfilling these needs help them focus and increase work production within other areas of the classroom. The use of such manipulatives as the sensory balls, help them receive the input they require in between demands that are placed on them. They are more readily able to work when these underlying needs are met. As educators, we want to promote students in meeting their individual goals. The ability to work independently is also a widely import skills we try to instill in our students. With the help of resources such as dividers and work folders, students will have an aide to lessen outside distractors to focus on tasks. We also want our students to develop social skills they will need throughout their lives. Such items, as an activity rug, serve as not only a sitting area but a place where students can interact and work together. They will learn crucial skills such as turn taking and conversational strategies.
