These wobbly stools provide movement. Kids not built to sit and learn all day. I remember my college psychology class which taught me, "Play is the work of children." I believe if I provide the right book and seat, any child can turn into a bookworm! These varied, appealing book titles will snag kids' interest. My theory is: A good reader never has to be lonely or bored. Each time I am forced to sit through a long workshop, I think of my students. These seating choices will help my most restless students focus and read. I have students rolling pencils, tapping, tipping in their chairs and kicking at desk legs. Their bodies are screaming for an active way to sit and focus. Traditional school hasn't been 'friendly' to boys, and the more we suit their needs, the more successful they will be. The stacking stools I'm requesting will create more space in the classroom, allowing for movement. When it is time to wiggle and dance to a poem or song, we need space.
