For my project, I want to support the various sensory needs of the students in my classroom in a way that is as natural as possible. Not all students learn the same, nor do they have the same sensory needs. I want to give them different strategies to find what works for them. My goal is to have the students find ways to get back on track, while learning strategies in a nurturing environment. Two major SEL topics that I want to introduce in my classroom are self-management and self-awareness. In order to achieve this, I will need a variety of fidget toys, sensory tools, a sensory table and strategies book that students can use to self-regulate. Students can utilize these tools in a monitored private space in our classroom. Once relaxed, the students will return to their class ready to learn!
