For most students in my first grade classroom, this is their first year attending school physically due to COVID. This means, I must plan strategically to be able to work with all small groups and target each group's needs. To accomplish my goal, I would need a kidney table, which has a curved place for the teacher and 3-4 other spots on the opposite side for students to sit. I can teach phonics through the use of flashcards and dictations. Furthermore, with its use, I'll implement guided reading!! Having an easel will help students reinforce anything taught and engage in shared writing, word work, and many other things! Ultimately, having a kidney table and an easel in my classroom will let me provide all my students with an interactive and comfortable small group instruction time.
