My students attend a fine and performance arts school in the inner city of Chicago. The students are mainly made up of African Americans and Hispanics from lower income families. The school itself is a welcoming environment for the students as well as the community. Even though budget restraints and lack of updated materials are an issue, we still strive to be the best and expect the best from our students. My students from an outsider's perspective may seem a little rough around the edges but they are excited daily for the opportunity to learn.
