At our charter school, we share goggles from grades 6-12. Not only is that a little gross (germs all over the place!), but it also does not allow my chemistry students to have a full laboratory experience. Our goal this semester is to have at least one lab experience a week. Currently, we are lucky if we have 1-2 labs a month, most of which use household supplies due to that lack of safety wear. With our own set of goggles, we would be able to do Flame tests, acid and base titrations, and chemical vs. physical reaction labs. My students would be able to not just learn about the science, but make it come to life.
