Books help kids develop basic language skills and profoundly expand their vocabularies—much more than any other media. They expand our universe beyond time and place and inspire our own original thoughts. Books are interactive; they demand that kids think. Books develop critical thinking skills. Children's literature is important because it provides students with opportunities to respond to literature. It is generally well-known that reading improves focus and concentration in academics. After a year of virtual learning, my students can really benefit from books to help them focus on a daily basis. My students can use more updated books for our classroom library and are very excited to receive them.
