At our school we utilize Lucy Calkin's Reader's and Writer's Workshop. During our instruction time, it is imperative that I am able to work with my students on a small group or individual basis. This gives us time to really focus on differentiating instruction for those children who may need a little extra guidance, or for those who are gifted and talented and need some accelerated time. It is extremely difficult to do any of these things without a small group learning area in our classroom. That is why I am requesting the large group table as well as the 6 chairs.
