The students in my Autistic support classroom range in age from 15 to 21 years and range in academic ability from non readers and non verbal students to students who are functioning at grade level but struggle with social skills. The school is located in an urban school district and the majority of students come from economically disadvantaged homes. There are multiple students in the program that are not making healthy choices and I am concerned for their health. I am trying to teach my students about making healthy choices in life and I am battling against their love of video games and computers. Unfortunately, when they go home from school that is where most of their time is spent. Unfortunately we live in an area where during the winter months it is difficult to get outside and exercise due to the weather, and I would like to show that them that you can be active and exercise indoors and outdoors.
