By donating to our project, you will help to improve and increase student achievement through the use of technology. Weekly compositions for persuasive, narrative and informative writing, as well as written responses and research projects, are all part of our academic content standards. Additionally, students in Ohio are required to take state tests on computers, including the task of writing multi-paragraph responses. The educational world is constantly moving away from pencil and paper assignments as technology advances to create 21st century learners. By using Chromebooks to type our weekly/daily writing assignments, students are gaining much needed practice with technology, while simultaneously performing tasks that are required by the Common Core Standards each year! Since each student has their own Google account through our district, they can easily submit their work to me in order to receive feedback or turn in final papers for grading. Additionally, this also drastically reduces the use of paper which helps the environment. Working in a district that is financially hurting for general daily operation funding, receiving more technology for one to one learning is not an option. We have 2 computers in our classroom, but have to share 2 carts of Chromebooks with the entire building for classroom use. This equates to approximately 27 classes sharing 2 sets of classroom Chromebooks. This drastically reduces our access time, and our students need and deserve more experience in order to perform at the expected state level. Please consider helping our mission to create 21st century learners.
