At 13 and 14 years of age, my students are working to discover themselves and find their voice. The very idea of a standing up in front of a group and speaking causes most of them a great deal of anxiety. On the other hand, my students are fascinated with recording themselves. They are technologically savvy. Many use camera phones to snap pictures of new hairstyles, Skype to communicate with their friends, and Photo Booth to capture funny moments. Technology, however, is not equally available to all of my students. Nor does our school have enough working cameras that I can count on having a camera available when I need it.
