Our classroom utilizes flexible seating options. I find that the students are able to be actively involved in their learning first by making choices. When students have many seating options is provides them the ability to change seating needs as the day goes on. At times, they may feel the need to sit, stand, kneel or wobble. I feel it is important to provide many options for them to utilized. The rockers and Disc'o seats allow for movement while the students are seated. This would greatly help with students that need sensory input to succeed with their work in a manner that is optimal for them, yet not distracting to others who do not need the movement. The yoga pillow cushions that are requested allow for students that do not need the sensory input, yet would benefit from the calmness of one comfortable spot. The yoga pillow is large enough for the students to sit on and also take to an area of the classroom in which they feel best meets their needs for learning. Recently, my classroom gained additional students which put us in the need for more seating. The children are very engaged and spend more time on task when able to focus and have movement within their learning.
