Keeping students engaged in learning can be a challenge, but with hands-on STEM lessons linked to real-world applications, even the youngest of students can experience rich classroom learning. Our school is a Title I school, and the student population is very diverse. While a considerable number of students are Hispanic, we also have students who identify as Southeast Asian, African, African American, Middle Eastern and Caucasian. As my site's Science Enrichment teacher, I see all of our students from grades UTK-5. My students love engaging in hands-on science learning! Not only are students continually developing skills as they work as scientists and engineers, these learners are also navigating how to work in groups, share materials and make compromises. Everyday they learn something new that helps them to become better students and well-rounded future citizens of our world!
