I work with 21 bright-eyed third grade students in one of the largest cities in the United States. Our K-4th grade Title 1 elementary school has over 800 students and 35 classrooms, about half of which are bilingual. Approximately 85% of the students in the school district and in my classroom are Hispanic, and a large percentage are economically disadvantaged. My classroom is inclusive of special education, English as a Second Language, and Gifted/Talented students, and their reading levels range from first to sixth grade. My students work very hard each and every day to reach their full potential and are making great strides in their learning. Their smiling faces and positive attitudes make teaching them a joy and I am seeking to provide them with resources to promote their academic success.
