My students are bright, talented, and all very much their own individual. I teach humanities at a high-performing, Title 1 school in Los Angeles. We serve a population of second-generation families, recent immigrants, and students with special needs through the inclusion model. Many students have been with the school for 8 years, and some of the families even longer. The reason why they have been with us for so long is because we are of a community of educators and families who challenge the socioeconomic barriers and labels that might try to prevent us from being successful.
