The technology is needed to help my students not only with writing but with reading as well. In the classroom, the students need an adult to read the material to them and then write the answers that the students give them. There are students who have that look in their eyes that show that they are trying to be independent but are struggling to be independent due to their physical disabilities.
By using the Inspiron Touch Screen computers, my students can become more independent. In the classroom, we will use these computers in many different ways. During reading and centers, my students can listen to stories online and watch as the words of the story come to life and light up on the screen. When they need to answer questions, the students can touch the screen to write their answers down and not have to worry about work being illegible.
The computers allow them to have a voice when they may not have one. My students are full of stories but when they cannot verbally express it or even physically express it by writing it down, those stories never come to the surface. Technology would allow for them to break out of their shells, communicate more and have the freedom to be independent.
Once we do receive the computers, I know my students would be so thankful. Using the computers, they will be able to write Thank you notes and even draw a picture on their own to send to donors.
