You cannot teaching reading without books! By building my classroom library, I am able to give students different reading materials based on their interest. This will be a great way for students to continue their love for reading while also attracting those students who may be on the fence. Along with classroom usage, the students will also be able to take these books home to continue their love for reading. My goal is the create a community based around literacy and a classroom library is a great start! Being a new teacher, I have a very limited section of books that fuel reading engagement because it isn't things they are interested in. By building my classroom library, I am promoting the use of comprehension and writing skills that are applicable to their everyday lives.
