My students need "Wonder," a modern novel studies in order to make more authentic and meaningful connections as they read. Most of the books we read as a class are older “classics.” While students enjoy them, I believe that with more recent books, their engagement levels will increase, and they’ll be able to make connections that will help increase their comprehension of the books we read. By reading consistently, students will become better readers. My hope is to also broaden their horizons into different genres of books, and instill in them a lifelong love of reading as they continue to move through their school careers.
