My students attend a Jr. High in California. I have students who are more than 2 years behind who are enrolled in an intensive intervention course for 3 hours a day in the pursuit of catching up to their peers. These students are highly motivated and work harder than any students on our campus. I also teach honors students who are creative and forward thinking. I had two students design electronic games for a project last month. They were incredible. Both groups come from the same socioeconomic background. They struggle in their daily lives, and some only eat when they're at school. While these students face difficulties in life, they are still working to be the best people they can be. They are motivated and working harder than ever. I believe that with the right tools, and the support of their families, peers, teachers, parents, and community these children will meet their potential.
