For my first project, I want to focus on flexible seating for the classroom. I believe that my students will soar and improve in the classroom while having the option of flexible seating. The flexible seating will be used by my students each day in class either at their seat, or on the reading carpet. The two beanbags and comfy floor seats will go in my library/reading area for students to use during read alouds or independent reading. The two balance balls will also be in my library area, however those will be moved around the room. Not only will they be used during independent reading and read alouds, but they will also be used at students desks throughout the day.
Flexible seating has many benefits, including increased collaboration, an increased ability to focus, and even some light exercise. It also gives students the choice on 'how' they want to sit, as opposed to having no choice and sitting in a desk all day. Aside from those benefits, flexible seating is FUN! I believe that it is important for students to learn, however, they should always take the opportunity to have fun while doing so!
