The use of Chromebooks in our classroom will maximize the learning and engagement for all students in all subject areas! With the incorporation of technology, my students who previously refused to work, began to complete their assignments on their own. Technology is am amazing motivator for students to learn and stay engaged. I would like to use Chromebooks within my classroom to create small groups while giving math instruction. My plan is to divide my class in half. This would allow thirteen of my students to work on ALEKs and receive math instruction at their current level, while I teach a small group of students the core concept planned for that day. Then switch half way through the lesson. This will allow me to work with smaller groups, and challenge students to work on their own at their own level. We have recently discovered Prodigy as an online math resource as well. My students literally chose to play this, on their own, any time we have inside recess. They are practicing math and don't even realize it! As a fourth grade team of teachers, we rotate for science! All the students in the fourth grade would be able to use these Chromebooks to simulate experiments, for research as well as for review by using websites such as Kahoot, Quizizz and Wizer.me. Also, as we rotate for science I get to teach the standard of Weather. At the end of the unit, instead of giving a standard test, I allow my students to create weather forecasts! To do this, the students work in groups of two, create a weather forecast for a specific location on Utah Compose, and then record it using a Chromebook video recorder. After all forecasts have been recorded, we watch the videos together as a whole group!
