I'm the only French teacher at my school, so I teach all 4 levels of French. I've been at the same school since 1994 and intend to spend my entre career there. From the very first year, I expect my students to speak to me in French. My classroom is decorated with realia that I have acquired on over 2 dozen trips to France I've taken. I take students to France every 2-3 years. My students really appreciate learning culture as well as the language. They say I'm very passionate about my subject matter. I also have a French Honor Society, which represents the top 15% of students in my classes. We watch movies in French, both movies from France and Disney movies dubbed in French. We have cooking and art projects. We do role playing activities, such as a restaurant simulation. I share the photos and videos I have taken on my trips. Many of my students have continued to study French beyond high school, even in France.
