My first grade students, at only 6 and 7 years old, are expected to spend 8 hours a day learning in my classroom. Since we are spending so much time in our classroom, we need flexible seating options to make the room more inviting, comfortable, and most importantly conducive to learning. The options I am hoping to add to my classroom are exercise balls, floor cushions, crate seats, and chair kicks to allow for movement at whichever seat my students choose to meet their needs. By providing my students with multiple seating choices, they will be able to excel academically in first grade. My kids need to be able to move and get comfortable to be able to stay focused throughout the long day. If we are able to provide these resources for my students they will be more successful in the classroom.
