My students need books nominated for the Great Lakes, Great Books Award. This is a children's choice book award for kids in Michigan. Some of the book titles requested are, Orphan Island, Blue Sky White Stars, Real Friends. The Great Lakes Great Books Award is given annually to books chosen by Michigan students. Students read the books nominated for their grade level and vote for their favorite. The winning books are announced at the Michigan Reading Association's annual conference in March. This has become an annual activity in our school library that students look forward to each year. I will be reading the picture books aloud to all classes and book talking the chapter books. Students in 2nd-5th grade will also have the opportunity to borrow the titles that interest them. Your donation will help us get enough copies of each nominee to share between all classes. The books will be a popular addition to our library collection.
