Many students in my class have not traveled outside our county let alone seen the world. I want to provide opportunities for all learners to travel. I want students to get excited about learning and be fully engaged. I am requesting 6 Google cardboard lenses and 6 LG Nexus Smartphone devices to use inside the google cardboard lenses. The LG Nexus smartphones can also be used separately on photo hunts around the classroom and school, as well as used for apps outside of Google cardboard. I plan to use the set of six as a traveling experience to go to each of the four kindergarten classes in my building so that my team of teachers are able to enrich their classrooms as well.
Google Cardboard can show my students the depths of the ocean and the peaks of the highest mountains. Using virtual reality technology, students can now travel to anywhere in the world.
We read about many of these places in our books and by using Google Cardboard we can fully experience 360 degree views. Students will be able to go on guided tours of world monuments, as well as see what the world looked like when dinosaurs roamed Earth. In my cover photo my class is going on an "airplane" trip to learn about holidays around the world. By having a set of virtual reality lenses they will be able to further explore the cities and sights on our trip I want my kindergarten students to come home and tell their families of their adventures and to get them excited about technology, science, and world geography!
