Kindergarten students were not made to sit still! If our project is funded, students will be given the choice to work using flexible seating options that allow their bodies to move! Flexible seating in the classroom gives students the power of choice! Children work best when they have some control over their learning experience. In our classroom students are given the option to sit or lay on the floor while working on a clipboard, stand while working at a counter or tall table, kneel on the floor at a lowered table, or sit in a child-size chair. The balance balls and wobble stools will provide the students with two additional options to use while working. The new seating will provide an opportunity to wiggle, bounce, and wobble while working to engage active learners. The students will be able to release energy in a productive way as they work and learn. When students use balance balls and wobble chairs, they are not only working on academics, they are also strengthening and building core muscles.
