Supports from the requested items allows sensory challenged kiddos to be more independent -they can get their needs met using these tools -rather than crashing into peers, furniture, or adults! These items will hopefully be temporary tools that can be faded out over time. Items like weighted sleeves, tough 'chewies', weighted pencils, and heavy/vibrating lap pads can provide the 'heavy work' (proprioceptive) input that my kiddos crave. This type of input helps regulate and organize overall arousal level (ability to focus). They also provide valuable feedback to their bodies about how effective their movements are -this helps shape the learning process.
