My first grade focus this year is to really take off with reading! I want my children to be able to use their imaginations and adventure into books. The more the children read, the more words they learn and the more fluent of readers they become. With a class set of book bins each child is able to have their very own bin in which they get to personally choose whatever books they want to read and take with them to a special spot of their choosing. These personal book bins and library of books can help to develop autonomy by providing a way for the child to make his/her own decisions as to what he/she wants to and finds enjoyable to read.
