My students will use the portable lap desks, with their chromebooks, at the Computer Station, and they will use the plastic chairs at the Writing Station. I believe that children need to feel comfortable with their "work space" in order to be most efficient. I do not agree that effective learning takes place in rows of desks with hard, plastic chairs. That design was created during a time where people worked in factories , and/or sat behind desks. Teachers are preparing the children of today to work collaboratively in environments like Google, Amazon, and Zappos. I believe that classrooms, today, need to look like these workplaces. They need to be a place of comfort and a place where students can come and let their creativity flow.
