The grade 1-5 elementary school students who I teach as a reading intervention teacher are working hard to learn how to read. I work at a Title 1 school in California with a diverse student population reflecting the wide diversity of the city of Los Angeles. I have never met a young child who dislikes reading, and this is why early intervention is critically important in the quest to teach all kids to read. My school is working hard to not only improve classroom libraries but to send home books with students on a nightly basis. Most students are responsible and return books, but we do lose a few and some get worn. It is important that classroom libraries are continually replenished to support our school's take-home books program. Thanks for considering funding this project!
