Every year, I like to introduce fun and inviting stories to promote a desire and suspense. Learning about other places in the United States such as learning about the Alaskan Iditarod let's the students get involved with the race by reading about famous dogs; Stone Fox and Balto. Then, in March they can follow the official race by picking their musher and daily checkpoints after learning about Alaska, famous mushers/ dogs, and the history of Iditarod. The cam will allow me to show the books on the board to model how to read effectively and develop reading strategies in a meaningful way.
