We are in the beginning stages of building a STEAM program within our computer/library programming. In order to make this an effective program, we would like to build up our coding opportunities as well as opportunities to enhance their curriculum in the classroom by making it cross over into multiple areas of learning. By adding the coding mice to our class, this would give our program a good introduction before hopping on the computers to continue working on multiple step process and cause and effect relationships. Our students are engaged by doing; they need multiple opportunities and different levels of support to learn these skills. I see the creativity and excitement that come with these opportunities. I believe the best way for our school to build learners is by doing and creating an exciting environment, and one of the perfect places to create that atmosphere is in our computer/library time.
