I teach in a public school, grades K-4 in one of the poorest counties in North Carolina. We have suffered many job losses since the textile markets left our area and in the more recent recession. The needs in this community have increased therefore the ability of parents to volunteer and provide materials to supplement our learning projects has decreased. Our students come from a variety of ethnic, socioeconomic and racial backgrounds. This makes my teaching environment full of exciting challenges, one of which is bringing them all together for a common goal. I have found that technology is the best tool to peek the interest of a diverse group of students and connect them. That is my rationale for choosing these materials for my school. The projector and cart will be shared among 2 to 4 teachers on a first and second grade hall. This project has the potential to motivate between 45 and 110 students. Each of them deserves a chance to work and learn using such a tool.
