My students have already begun showing an interest in the art of exploration! Part of that process means stepping out from behind the traditional desk and into a location they find best. This is why I have chosen to seek flexible seating options for our new classroom. I take pride in giving my students the responsibility to make choices in their own best interest. They are free to choose where their learning happens inside the classroom, especially when they are working collaboratively! I have seen students in a circle on the floor or tucked away under desks. I have seen them standing at a table and bouncing away on yoga balls. I have seen students successful at learning and so often, they aren't in a traditional chair.
If we don't limit students, imagine how far they will take us! I wholeheartedly believe that students given the choice to guide their own journey find a better path to success. I am hoping the addition of wobble seats, floor chairs, and clipboards allow my students to take more control over their own environment. The dry erase pocket folders are also a huge component of being able to write, store, and display their work without being confined to a stationary desk.
The products I have selected also include two STEM-based game/systems for which our Science and Mathematics classroom can highly benefit. I am a fairly new teacher in the world of education and haven't built much of a collection for these items. I know my students are passionate about the world of STEM and I only hope to fulfill those curious minds.
