Students have already written persuasive arguments to support the enhancement of the Peace Garden. This spring students will assist in creating the outdoor classroom area by preparing the soil, spreading mulch and reestablishing the pathway to its original design. Students involved in such organizations as Future Farmers of America may use the area to practice for plant identification competitions while members of the Beta Club and Student Council may earn service time by planting and maintaining the gardens. Art students will help develop and decorate rain water catch basins and create water sculptures. Members of the Staff and Student wellness committee will help prepare mileage maps of the completed area to encourage members of the 100 Mile Club to incorporate this greenway as part of their fitness routine. Girls on the Run groups and Active Afternoon student use the walkways as part of ongoing focus on health and fitness.
