According to NAEYC, dramatic play is an integral part of a child’s social, emotional and cognitive development. My first graders have missed almost half a year of kindergarten due to covid-19 and I have to find a way to recoup those social/emotional skills! I want to reinforce the concepts that we are learning in our classroom by integrating them into dramatic play centers. First graders will be able to take dramatic play to the next level. They love to use their imagination to act out scenarios. A kitchen provides the perfect opportunity to read, write, and use math in an imaginary setting while also navigating a social setting with their peers. Help me by providing the tools that I need to begin.
