My students come from many different walks of life. I want to reach them in every way possible. In 1st grade we are learning to read. In order to develop a love of reading, the students need to enjoy what they are reading. My goal with this project is to create a learning library that covers a vast variety of topics so that I can reach every student's interests to encourage reading.
The more books you can put in a child's hands, the better. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. Every book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and my students are thankful for these books. All of the books on my wish list have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them and gotten to know their interests the past few weeks of school while they read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time which is so important to help them further their reading abilities.
